Qatar Airways is controlled by some members of the Qatari royal family. On June 23, 2015, Skytrax's Best Airline Award (the aviation industry's Oscar) was unveiled at the 2015 Paris Air Show, based on a survey of 19 million air travelers from 110 countries. Qatar Airways, which made a splash at the Paris Airshow, won Skytrax's Best Airline of the Year award
